Southern Surf & Turf Nachos
Components (the dream team)
- Crispy tortilla chips (thick, sturdy ones)
- Blackened shrimp (surf)
- Smoky steak bites (turf)
- Pimento cheese sauce
- Southern-style toppings
1. Blackened Shrimp 🍤
Ingredients
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled & deveined
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp cayenne (to taste)
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
Cook
- Toss shrimp with seasoning.
- Sear in a hot skillet 1–2 min per side until charred. Set aside.
2. Steak Bites 🥩
Ingredients
- 1 lb sirloin or ribeye, cut into cubes
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- Salt & pepper
Cook
- Season steak.
- Sear in a hot skillet 2–3 min per side for medium-rare.
- Finish with a knob of butter if you’re feeling generous.
3. Pimento Cheese Sauce 🧀 (the Southern soul)
Ingredients
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar
- ½ cup shredded Monterey Jack
- ¼ cup cream cheese
- ¼ cup mayo
- 2 tbsp milk
- 2 tbsp diced pimentos
- Dash of hot sauce
Make
- Melt everything gently in a saucepan, stirring until smooth.
4. Build the Nachos
- Heat oven to 400°F / 205°C.
- Spread chips on a large sheet pan.
- Scatter steak + shrimp evenly.
- Drizzle generously with pimento cheese sauce.
- Bake 8–10 minutes until bubbly.
5. Southern Toppings (don’t hold back)
- Pickled okra or jalapeños
- Diced tomatoes
- Thin-sliced red onion
- Fresh cilantro or green onions
- Drizzle of hot honey or BBQ sauce
- Dollops of sour cream or comeback sauce
Serve Immediately
