Southern Surf & Turf Nachos

Components (the dream team)

  • Crispy tortilla chips (thick, sturdy ones)
  • Blackened shrimp (surf)
  • Smoky steak bites (turf)
  • Pimento cheese sauce
  • Southern-style toppings

1. Blackened Shrimp 🍤

Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled & deveined
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp cayenne (to taste)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Cook

  • Toss shrimp with seasoning.
  • Sear in a hot skillet 1–2 min per side until charred. Set aside.

2. Steak Bites 🥩

Ingredients

  • 1 lb sirloin or ribeye, cut into cubes
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper

Cook

  • Season steak.
  • Sear in a hot skillet 2–3 min per side for medium-rare.
  • Finish with a knob of butter if you’re feeling generous.

3. Pimento Cheese Sauce 🧀 (the Southern soul)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar
  • ½ cup shredded Monterey Jack
  • ¼ cup cream cheese
  • ¼ cup mayo
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 2 tbsp diced pimentos
  • Dash of hot sauce

Make

  • Melt everything gently in a saucepan, stirring until smooth.

4. Build the Nachos

  1. Heat oven to 400°F / 205°C.
  2. Spread chips on a large sheet pan.
  3. Scatter steak + shrimp evenly.
  4. Drizzle generously with pimento cheese sauce.
  5. Bake 8–10 minutes until bubbly.

5. Southern Toppings (don’t hold back)

  • Pickled okra or jalapeños
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Thin-sliced red onion
  • Fresh cilantro or green onions
  • Drizzle of hot honey or BBQ sauce
  • Dollops of sour cream or comeback sauce

Serve Immediately
