Sausage rolls are a classic British bakery snack — flaky puff pastry wrapped around seasoned sausage meat and baked until golden. They’re hugely popular in the UK and commonly found in bakeries like Greggs.


🥖 Easy Homemade Sausage Rolls (Makes 10–12)

Ingredients

  • 500g pork sausage meat (or sausages with casings removed)
  • 1 sheet ready-rolled puff pastry
  • 1 small onion, very finely diced (optional)
  • 1 tsp dried sage or thyme
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 egg (beaten, for glazing)

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (180°C fan) / 400°F.
  2. In a bowl, mix sausage meat with onion, herbs, and pepper.
  3. Unroll the pastry and cut lengthwise into two long strips.
  4. Shape sausage meat into two long logs and place down the center of each strip.
  5. Brush one edge of pastry with egg, fold over the meat, and seal.
  6. Turn seam-side down and cut into desired sizes.
  7. Place on a lined baking tray, brush with egg wash, and score lightly on top.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
